Federal Housing Administration (FHA),was created by the National Housing Act of 1934, which was established primarily to increase home construction, reduce unemployment, and operate various loan insurance programs. FHA insures loans made by private lenders and it doesn't make loans itself.
FHA allows first time homebuyers to put down as little as 3.5% and receive up to 6% towards closing costs.
